Emilio Del Canto is a first-generation Canadian with a diverse musical background and upbringing. Since his humble beginnings in Saskatoon, Canada, Emilio has forged himself into a prominent DJ, producer, entrepreneur, and event promoter in the Canadian music industry. He presently operates at the helm of his event companies Foundation House Music and The Treehouse Series in synergy with other artists, and actively releases tracks via Beats Union As Well as other underground music distribution platforms. Emilio’s passion for electronic music is always apparent in what he does and is held at the forefront of his endeavors.

During his early years, Emilio held a residency at Kass Night Club In Benin, West Africa, and has more recently toured and performed across Canada, the US, and as far South as Mexico. The influence of his travel and his Chilean roots have resulted in an exciting fusion of musical styles that incorporate an array of tropical, Latin, and tribal-based rhythms as well as deep, soulful melodies, chord progressions, and vocals. The melodic and cultural components of his music are complimented by an expertly integrated range of House Music, Drum & Bass, FutureBaile and other contemporary electronic genres. The refined skill he possesses is attributed to decades of music collection, research, and artistic development.

In performance, Emilio is never afraid to break the mold and explore beyond the expected. His musical spontaneity is balanced by the technical finesse he exhibits behind the decks and in the studio. Instinctually responsive to the dynamic ebb and flow of a dance floor, he is able to connect intimately with his audience through his music and effortlessly manipulates the energy throughout his sets.He pours his heart and soul into his craft, and can always be seen playing out, writing tracks, throwing events, and making moves to spread the music he loves.

Artist: MAP
Date of performance: Saturday, June 8th
Venue: The Cube

Comprised of members Jorel Minuk, Adrian Klassen, and Marco Tummillo, house trio MAP is a Canadian act well recognized for making heads nod and booties bounce. The oldest member Jorel, a self-professed rave dad and sound nerd, is responsible for much of the trio’s technical mastery. Adrian is the creative eccentric behind the group’s off-the-wall lyrics and vocals. Marco, who started illegally deejaying raves as a minor, is the youngest member of the crew and is the key figurehead for the group’s culture.

After releasing their debut EP ‘Grant Ave.’ on Admit One Records in July 2018, MAP has received massive support from their peers and has had their music played at several major North-American festi- vals including Shambhala, Dirtybird Campout and EDC Las Vegas. Following their Admit One Records debut, they have since released music on notable labels like Chub Rub, Rock Bottom, Late Night Munchies, Groovy Bone, and OFDM.

Most recently, the boys launched their label ‘Mortar & Pestle Records’ alongside their hometown friend, Skene Music which features many prominent up and coming house music artists. Although there’s no telling where MAP will go next, the only logical course of action remains evident: Follow it.

Artist feature: JEMIRU

Date of performance: Friday, June 7th
Venue: @littlebrownjugbrewing
Tickets: memetic.ca/tickets

(Or link in bio)

Jemirus’s involvement in the electronic music scene in Winnipeg was there before he was even aware. In 2000, at 16 years old, he worked at a local roller skating rink, which unbeknownst to him was a regular venue for all night DJ parties. It was while playing music during normal business hours, between fixing roller skates that he discovered his appreciation for electronic music, and sent him down a path of discovery of all types of beats, and amassing a vinyl collection before purchasing his first set of Tech12 turntables in 2003. His involvement with the Winnipeg’s annual Electronic festival MEMETIC has helped him hone his craft and guide him to a ever-evolving sound, always looking for the ideal hooks, and always striving to give any soundsystem he is playing on a workout, and making sure feet on the dancefloor never stop moving Jemiru’s imaginative, bass heavy, and sometimes downright dirty sets have allowed him to share the stage with some of the biggest names across multiple genres. Jemiru always brings thoughtful, well executed and resonant musical journeys to each set that always leaves the crowd moving and wanting more.

Artist feature: Lyer

Date of performance: Friday, June 7th
Venue: @littlebrownjugbrewing
Tickets: memetic.ca/tickets

(Or link in bio)

From the Ruthless Party People nights to Bring Your Love festival afternoons Lyer is happy to find the interesting bits of truth in every track she plays. Music lover and vinyl fan Lyer started this electronic journey in 2000, with ever evolving but not limited to progressive and tech house vibes, continually on the search for solid vocal lines to juxtapose, and those sweet beautiful glitches. Excited to revisit the MEME stage, as her 10th anniversary set was a revival of spirit and every set since a celebration. Come dancing!
...

Artist feature: Mark Grimace

Date of performance: Saturday, June 8th
Venue: The Cube

Mark Grimace believes in the promise of the underground!

A true original raver, Mark began djing in 1986 and started playing raves in Toronto early 1994. He was part of some of the city’s most legendary original rave crews, playing everything from warehouse parties and festivals, to the city’s best clubs, and touring across North America. He’s been lucky enough to share the stage with some of the scene’s pioneers and biggest stars along the way. Mark and his family moved to Winnipeg 7 years ago and he never missed a beat (see what I did there?). Mark is just as active behind the scenes, bringing people together to help things grow, as he is behind the decks. Mark’s infectious energy is a crowd favorite wherever he goes. Over 30 years as an active and dedicated DJ has allowed him to develop an eclectic style with unmatched technical ability – his sets move fluidly from genre to genre, from broken beats to 4/4 and all points in between keeping the dancefloor constantly on its toes. He is just as comfortable in a club environment as he is in a dirty warehouse or festival stage.

MEME artist feature: Thomas Workshop

Date of performance: Friday, June 7th
Venue: @littlebrownjugbrewing
Tickets: memetic.ca/tickets (link in bio)

Immersed in jazz and folk from toddler times. Thomas is happiest when surrounded by house music, basketball, breakbeats, disc golf, old-school hip hop, techno and plant based hygiene products.

A vinyl nerd who thrives on CDJ’s and an improv lyricist who caught the writing bug. His other creative projects include Lazy Syrup Orchestra and Soul Hop Productions.

Classic feel good flavours, warm futuristic frequencies, infectious levels of deep and ultra broad tastes paired with extensive dance floor experience. Whether it be on the decks or with a microphone in hand, Thomas definitely has a lot to share!
